Defining and Modifying Resource Relationships
In the Diagram tab for a Monitor, the application diagram shows the Resource relationships in that Monitor. Each box in the diagram represents a Resource. Lines represent relationships between Resources.
Resources are tested in the order of their relationships, from left to right. This testing order is clearly indicated in the Resource Relationship for Monitor <monitor name> dialog where Resources are numbered in the order in which they are tested.
Each Resource relationship spans 1- 5 tiers.

Displaying the Resource Relationship Editor
To display the Editor so that you can modify the Resource relationships:
- From the Left Navigational Pane, select a Monitor. On the right, the Diagram tab displays the application diagram for the selected Monitor.
- In the Diagram tab, click the Edit link. The application diagram changes to edit mode and now includes a toolbar with the following options:

Open the Resource Relationships for Monitor <monitor name> dialog.

Save the Resource relationship changes.

Toggle the Auto Layout function.

View or edit the maximum rows per tier. When in Auto Layout mode, you can specify the number of rows to display in a Resource tier. Tiers that contain overflow columns (caused by more than the maximum number of rows in one Tier) are surrounded by a shaded box to indicate that the Resources are in the same Tier.

Close the Resource Relationship Editor.
- Make your changes then click
Save.
Displaying the Resource Relationships for Monitor <monitor name> Dialog
The Resource Relationships for a Monitor are defined and modified using the Resource Relationship for Monitor <monitor name> dialog.
To display the Resource Relationship for Monitor <monitor name> dialog:
- From the Left Navigational Pane, select a Monitor. On the right, the Diagram tab displays the application diagram for the selected Monitor.
- In the Diagram tab, click the Edit link. The application diagram changes to edit mode and now includes a toolbar.
- In the Edit toolbar, click
Relationships. The Resource Relationships for Monitor <monitor name> dialog appears.
Resources are tested in the order of their relationships, from left to right and then top to bottom. The number that precedes each Resource in the list indicates where it lies in the testing order.
Defining a Resource Relationship
To define a Resource Relationship:
- Open the Resource Relationships for Monitor <monitor name> dialog.
- In the Add Resource field, enter or select a Resource for "tier 1" of the new relationship. (In the Monitor application diagram, "tier 1" is the first box on the left.)
Note: Tier 2 and Tier 3 are optional relationships. However, if you define a Resource in Tier 2, you must define a Resource in Tier 1. If you define a Resource in Tier 3, you must define a Resource in both Tier 1 and Tier 2.
- In the resource diagram list, select an insertion point for the new resource relationship then click
Add.

. Move the selected Resource Relationship up in the list.

. Move the selected Resource Relationship down in the list.

. Delete the selected Resource Relationship.
- Click Save.
Use the following buttons to rearrange the resource relationships as necessary:
Modifying a Resource Relationship
To modify a Resource Relationship:
- Open the Resource Relationships for Monitor <monitor name> dialog.
- In the Resource diagram list, select a Resource Relationship to modify.
- Use the buttons on the right to perform the following tasks:

. Move the selected Resource Relationship up in the list.

. Move the selected Resource Relationship down in the list.

. Delete the selected Resource Relationship.
- Click Save.
